The anti-racist organisation SOS Rasisme celebrates with a festival called "17. mai for alle" (="May 17th for all"), with outdoor concerts, stands and entertainment in the idyllic Kuba park by the river Akerselva. Those who initiated the festival wanted to show that the national day was a celebration not only for the ethnic Norwegian majority, but for everyone living in Norway.
The festival has always had free access for everyone. The audience record is about 15 000 people, and participants enjoy sitting on the grass, relaxing, barbecuing and listening to great music.
