Cross-country skiing in Oslo
More than 2,600 km (1,600 miles) of prepared cross-country ski trails run deep into the forests of Oslo. 90 km are lit for the special atmosphere of evening tours.
Skiers can stop at 44 picturesque cabins, where some are only open for overnight visitors while others are open for refreshments and home made pastries.
Whether you seek a relaxing experience to enjoy the magic of silence and snow-capped pine trees, or you prefer to get a real workout, the trails await you.

The extended public transportation network of Oslo will take you to straight to some of the city's most popular skiing spots.
Recommended options include:
Metro line 1 to Midtstuen, Holmenkollen, Voksenkollen or Frognerseteren Metro line 3 to Skullerud or Mortensrud
Metro line 5 to Sognsvann.

The ski routes around Oslo are for the most part well marked and signposted, but it is still recommended to use a map, especially for long tours. Maps and more information about the sport cabins and outdoor activities are available at DNT Oslo & Omegn (located in Storgata 3 in the city centre).

Skiing classes
The Oslomarka forest area is quite hilly, and probably not the best place for beginners. If you'd still like to this unique Norwegian hobby for the first time, you might want to take some classes before you hit the tracks.
