A good accommendation for starting a trip to Oslo center

Recommended by Paul Leon, Germany (Germany Tue 17 Apr 12)
“We had the chance to visit Oslo for a few days. Looking for suitable accomodation, we finally ended up with the Ankerst Hotel, which is close to the Ankerst youth hostel but different. The price is highly acceptable if your coming from Norwegia itself. Beeing german citizen you need to have a look on your money. The hotel is located closely to the centre of Oslo. Every interesting point in Oslo could be reached either by walking or taking the tram or T-bane (which is the norwegian type of metro). We never had to take a taxi or rent a car. The room itself was very pleasant, we find good conditions to sleep. We experienced once a problem with the electricity in the room but received prompt service by the front desk and within minutes the offer of a new (upgraded) room once it was recognized that the issues could not be fixed immediately. Coming from Germany, your used to impressive breakfast buffets in a similar category of hotels, and here is the point which was slightly disappointing. The breakfast buffet was rather "selected", the coffee was too bitter and strong, the orange juice not that really fresh, and instead of baked beacon only hot sausages. No big points to claim, but it could be improved (a little bit)”

Tankar från takvåningen

Recommended by Ninni, Sweden (Sweden Fri 18 Jul 08)

Great value for money. Excellent location.

“Hotel is okay for people who just want to stay a night in Oslo. No frills hotel accomodation. Not bad either for ticket expenses (tram) to and from the city center, if one has an Oslo Pass. One thing I don't like is the customer servcices at the reception. One ater i checked out I called the hotel if there was a lost & found cellphone from the room that I stayed. The reception lady ask my tel. number (private) & another cellphone number, they'll check the room and return my call. They did't return my call, instead I have to call them back and ask it they found my mobile phone. (I think the reception lady is swedish).”

Good but a bit expensive for European standards

Recommended by Luca, Italy (Italy Mon 01 Sep 08)
“Very friendly, kind and helpful reception staff: always available for any need. Wide choice at breakfast despite the lack of a continental flavour (no cakes, croissants and stuff like that). Good position, 10 minutes walk from the center and near the trendy neighbourhood of Grunerlokka. The only actual "minus" point is the price, which is quite high for a 3-star hotel with respect to European standards: about 150 euros per night for a small double room with no mini-bar and a tiny bathroom with just a shower curtain (serious risk of flooding the whole bathroom when you take your shower). But I guess this is Norway...”

hotellfrokost

Recommended by Anonymous , Norway (Norway Fri 18 May 12)
Her bør hotellet kanskje investere i skillevegger.

parkering

Recommended by Kerstin hagström, Sweden (Sweden Fri 24 Oct 08)

Very pleasant hotel

Recommended by Anonymous , Sweden (Sweden Wed 13 Apr 11)
“The Anker Hotel is well situated with several tram lines that stop close to the hotel and only a moderate walk from Oslo's central station. The location is central without being right in the middle of the central area which I found to be pleasant. The price for my room was more than reasonable, especially considering it included a nice breakfast buffet. I would be quite happy to recommend the Anker Hotel to my friends as well as to return myself.”

Great deal!

Recommended by Doris, Canada (Canada Thu 18 Nov 10)
“This hotel was undergoing some renovations during our stay. Therefore, they offered rooms at a discounted price. What a deal!We were not at all bothered or inconvenienced by these renovations. Buffet breakfast, which was included in the price of the room, was delicious and offered a variety of food and drink. Hotel staff was very friendly. Hotel sold the Oslo Card. Tram stop was just in front of hotel. Hotel was close to train station. ”

Best Western Anker Hotel in Oslo

Recommended by family T, United States (United States Thu 26 Mar 09)
“It was a alright hotel for the money. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was GREAT! My family and I looked forward to it every morning. The location was good. We were able to catch the trolley or the bus practically in front of the hotel. My only problem was the bathroom was weird. You could go to the bathroom, brush your teeth and get a shower all at the same time. Overall it was a good hotel for the price.”

Bed & Breakfast

Recommended by Peter (HH/GER), Germany (Germany Mon 22 Aug 11)
“If you only want to have a bed above your head (in your own room), and if you don't need a comfortable room because you are visting Oslo (and not the hotel ;-), and if you don't worry abaout having your breakfast in a canteen, and if you don't want to spend your whole travel budget for the hotel (because Norway in general ist not low priced), then you might stay at the Anker Hotel.”
