Christiania's evolution 1624-1850
On 17 June 1624 Oslo burned to the ground. King Christian Kvart himself came to Oslo and decided to move the city to where Akershus Fortress would protect it and to name it Christiania, after himself.
The exhibition is about Christiania's evolution until the 1850s and the city's citizens, businesses, culture, form and buildings.
Also shown at the Theatre Museum are a costume gallery, the exhibition "The Theatres of Oslo" and the film "Oslo 1000 years" (Norwegian and English).
Guided tours in Norwegian and English of all exhibitions every hour from 12 noon.
