Films from the South festival 9-19 October

Over 130 features, documentaries and short films will be shown at Europe's greatest assembly of films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The festival's main focus areas this year are contemporary Brazil, young Mexican cinema, Raoul Peck, music documentary and film & literature.

Films from the South is a unique festival with headquarters in the heart of Oslo. The films will be screened at Vika, Parkteatret, MS Innvik, Cinemateket, Eldorado and Nobel Peace Center.

The festival was initiated in Oslo in 1991 and presents the best films from Asia, Africa and Latin America every year. The festival highlights particular issues each year.

The festival sees itself as an important part of Oslo's cultural life and the Norwegian film industry. Through the good movie experience, seminars, international guests and events throughout the year, Films from the South is an important arena for cultural exchange.

Tickets for evening screenings cost NOK 85. Screenings that start before 4 pm cost NOK 60, and all tickets for children under age 15 cost NOK 50.

Where to get tickets
Vika and Eldorado screenings: All Oslo Kino cinemas (except Symra) and at www.oslokino.no.
Cinemateket screenings: The Cinemateket ticket office from one hour before their first screening each day, or at the film shop at Filmens hus.
M/S Innvik, Parkteatret and Nobel Peace Center screenings: At the door.

Festival passes available at www.filmfrasor.no for NOK 730 + a ticket fee before the festival, or at ticket stands at Vika, Eldorado and Filmens hus during the festival for NOK 900. Festival pass holders still have to pick up a ticket for each screening they attend.
