Lynyrd Skynyrd to Oslo 23 May

Oslo Spektrum becomes "Sweet Home Alabama" for one night in May when the legendary southern rockers enter the stage. Tickets are now on sale!

Lynyrd Skynyrd has existed on and off since the '60s, and their big break came in 1974, when the hit "Sweet Home Alabama" sent their album "Second Helpings" to the top of the charts. A few years later, in 1977, several of the band members died in a plane crash and band's existence came to an abrupt end. They returned with a new vocalist in 1987, however, and continued to tour with a changing lineup through the '90s.

It has been over five years since the band's last studio album, but new material is supposed to be on the way in 2009. The new album is also rumoured to contain songs recorded before the tragic accident in 1977.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's legend status has been confirmed by several important rock institutions in the last few years; in 2004 rock bible Rolling Stone placed them on the list of "the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time", and in 2006 the band was inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Get ready for pulsating Southern rock when classic hits and soulful guitar riffs lift the roof in Oslo Spektrum on 23 May.

Tickets cost NOK 625,- + fee and can be purchased online: www.billettservice.no, by phone: 815 11 211/815 33 133 or in person at Oslo Spektrum's ticket office.
