Munch Museum (Munch-museet)

Edvard Munch has a unique position among Nordic painters and is considered a pioneer in expressionism. The Munch Museum's collection, left to the city of Oslo by Edvard Munch, consists of a large number of paintings, graphical prints and drawings. By constantly changing the exhibitions, the museum presents the variety in his production.

The museum offers audio tours in Norwegian and in English and a permanent documentary exhibition.

Guided tours on Sundays at 1 pm. (in English during July and August.)
Films about Edvard Munch's life and art on weekdays 10.10 am-3.50 pm and on weekends 11.10 am-4.50 pm.

There museum also has a shop and a café.

Closed: 1-2 January, 1 May, 17 May, 24-25 and 31 Dec. Open all days during Easter and Whitsun (incl. Easter Monday and Whit Monday).

Note! The museum is closed 12-22 January 2009 because of an exhibition change.

Free entrance 23 January-31 March 2009.
