Municipality of Oslo: Recreation and Leisure

Great areas of forests surround the city, a considerable portion municipally owned. Here you will find 70 lakes for bathing and 100 bodies of water for fishing including rivers and streams and 460 kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails, of which 106 km are artificially lit, 150 km are forest roads and 200 km are marked for hiking.
The Agency prepares 340-350 kilometres of Oslo's cross-country ski trails, including the ones from Frognerseteren and Sognsvann.

The city itself has a susbstantial portion of green areas. 12 hectares of parks and public areas in the central city alone, including the famous Vigeland/Frogner Park.

The Recreation and Leisure Service are in charge of 11 cabins in Oslo's forests:
In Nordmarka: Ullevålseter, Tryvannstua, Finnerud.
In Østmarka: Mariholtet, Rustadsaga, Sandbakken, Skullerudstua.
In Lillomarka: Linnerudkollen, Lilloseter, Sinober, Trollvannstua.
