The annual National Music Day, which takes place on the first Saturday in June, has become a popular tradition in Oslo.
The summer is welcomed with 20-30 outdoor stages, hundreds of artists and a seething atmosphere all over town.
The bands and artists play in streets and parks, on places and squares, from the centre of town up to Grünerløkka. All sorts of genres are represented, from rock, country and pop via electronica and jazz to world music, choirs and Norwegian folk music.
This celebration of music has developed to become one of the largest festivals in the country.
