Edvard Munch has a unique position among Nordic painters and is considered a pioneer in expressionism. The Munch Museum's collection, left to the city of Oslo by Edvard Munch, consists of a large number of paintings, graphical prints and drawings. By constantly changing the exhibitions, the museum presents the variety in his production.
The museum offers audio tours in Norwegian and in English and a permanent documentary exhibition. Films about Edvard Munch's life and art are screened during the museum's opening hours. The film programme is on the museum's website.

Guided tours in Norwegian on Sundays in September-June at 1 pm.
Guided tours in English every day in July and August at 1 pm.
Closed: 1 May, 17 May, 24-25 December, 31 December, 1 January. Open all days during Easter and Whitsun (incl. Easter Monday and Whit Monday).
Note: The museum closes for exhibition changes a few times every year. The shop and café are open during this time, except on Mondays.
