The National Library of Norway (Nasjonalbiblioteket) is a multimedia centre for knowledge and culture which can offer interesting contrasts. The library has material dating from the middle ages to the present day.

The main objective of the library is to preserve and provide access to the national printed and written heritage. It also serves as a public scholarly library and centre of excellence for the study of Norwegian culture. The library has the most complete collection of books published in Norway and foreign books about Norway.

The National Library's collections are available for research and documentation, and most of them are available to the public through The National Library's public services and the Internet.
