Two-time Academy Award winner Sir Michael Caine will join Scarlett Johansson to host the 15th annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert on 11 December in Oslo Spektrum. The concert will honour this year's laureate, Martti Ahtisaari.
Legendary singer Diana Ross will headline the show, which will also feature performances by world-renowned artists such as Feist, Dierks Bentley, Julieta Venegas, Seun Kuti and Marit Larsen. More artists will be announced soon.
Mr. Ahtisaari will be in attendance at the concert, which is presented by the esteemed Norwegian Nobel Committee and broadcast to more than 100 countries worldwide. The concert is always held on the day after the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony.
The hosts have collaborated before; they both appeared in the 2006 film "The Prestige". Sir Michael Caine has been honoured with numerous awards during his illustrious career, including two Best Supporting Actor Oscars. This year the British actor reprised his role as Alfred in the worldwide blockbuster "The Dark Knight". With more than 30 films under her belt, four-time Golden Globe nominee and BAFTA winner Johansson has proven to be one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses. She currently features in the Woody Allen film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".
The annual Nobel Peace Prize, considered to be the most prestigious award in the world, is given to an individual or organization whose work exemplifies a spirit of vision and leadership that will help promote peace in the world. Laureates include Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Al Gore and other remarkable individuals and organizations.
