The Annual Christmas Fair

The Christmas Fair at the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History is the largest pre-Christmas event in Oslo, and is a popular tradition among both tourists and locals. From over 100 old-fashioned stalls one can purchase homemade crafts, Christmas decorations, cakes and other treats. The museum cafés are decorated for the holidays, and serve coffee, gingerbread cakes and other Norwegian Christmas specialties.

The houses in the open-air museum are decorated according to the traditions of the original inhabitants, showing how Christmas has been celebrated through the ages in both poor and rich Norwegian homes.
