Northern Europe's largest contemporary music festival celebrates pluralism this year, and the 19-day programme includes concerts, opera, dance, theatre, installations, seminars and lectures. The 18th annual Ultima Festival will be held in Oslo in the period 1-19 October.
No fewer than 37 world premieres will take place during Ultima, and towards the end of the festival Cecilie Ore's "Dead Beat Escapement" will become the first world premiere in the spectacular new Opera house. The festival's opens with Georg Friedrich Haas and Jon Fosse's brand new opera, "Melancholia" on 1 October, also in the Opera house .
Ultima performances can also be seen at numerous other locations in Oslo, including Black Box Theatre, Oslo Concert Hall, Kulturkirken Jakob, Henie Onstad Art Centre, Gamle Logen, Parkteatret, Dance House Norway, the Norwegian Academy of Music and Chateau Neuf.
Festival passes cost NOK 950,- for adults and NOK 750,- for students, pensioners and members.
