Tøyen Manor House

The Tøyen estate is rich in history. The name, originally Todin suggests an origin in the first centuries AD. Tad means fertilizer and vin is grazing land or pasture. The estate belonged to the Nonneseter Convent in the Middle Ages. Chancellor Jens Bjelke was granted Tøyen as a peerage estate about 1640. The ancient and venerable Tøyen Manor also houses temporary exhibitions and a café for staff and visitors.
