The new pier will allow the airport to increase its capacity. Currently, Oslo Airport at Gardermoen has a capacity of 23 million travellers on a yearly basis. When the first part of the expansion is completed, the airport will be able to handle 28 million passengers per year.
The plan is to enlarge the terminal with a new pier enabling more planes to dock. The terminal will also get a new arrival and departure hall, as well as new luggage claim facilities.
