By car to Oslo

Are you travelling to Oslo by car? Here we present useful information about driving into and inside the city.

Important roads

The main roads towards Oslo are E6 from the south (east side of the Oslo Fjord) and north, and E18 from the east (Stockholm) and the south (west side of the Oslo Fjord), in addition to E16 from the west (Bergen) to Sandvika just outside Oslo. See map on the right.

Inside the city, the main routes are the three "Ring roads":

  • Ring 1 (around the inner centre)
  • Ring 2 (Majorstua – Sagene – Tøyen – Gamlebyen)
  • Ring 3 (Lysaker – Smestad – Ullevaal Stadion – Storo – Sinsen – Økern – Bryn – Manglerud)
