Oslo Live gives you three days of pop, rock and hip-hop, right in the city centre. The festival started as an improvised event in 2008, but has quickly become a popular rendezvous in summer Oslo.
The first Oslo Live took place in 2008, after the Quart Festival in Kristiansand was cancelled only one month ahead. All the artists for Quart were already confirmed, so a group of concert organisers in Oslo saw a chance to get some of these artists to play in Oslo instead. In just a few weeks they put together a four-day festival programme, and Oslo Live was a reality. This first improvised festival was so successful, Oslo Live has now become an annual event.
The festival takes place at Kontraskjæret, the little "plateau" between Akershus Fortress and the harbour. The festival area has two stages, food and drink stands, and room for thousands of festival goers. For those without a ticket, it is possible to watch for free from the fortress walls, but the Oslo Live tickets are so cheap, there is really no reason not to go inside for the full experience!
