World's biggest marzipan pig at the Christmas Fair

Wednesday 28 November at 11 am, the world's biggest marzipan pig arrives at the Museum of Cultural History. The pig weighs 700 kilos and is 2 meters long. It will be one of the attractions at the big Christmas fair.

The marzipan pig is made by Nidar in Trondheim, and will be exhibited at the traditional Christmas fair at the Museum of Cultural History the first two weekends of December. It is sculpted by the craftsmen designers Lars Kristian Røed and Johanna Andrea Magnus, and is brought to Oslo in a big truck.

Nidar has made Christmas marzipan for the Norwegian people since 1915, and the parzipan pig is part of Norwegian Christmas traditions. In addition to the giant pig, Nidar will also exhibit old marzipan moulds and photos from when the production and all the processes were done by hand.
