Grønland is the old workers area but is now a trendy and hip district. In my opinion it has the best nightlife in the city. During the day I can easily forget that I’m in Oslo, because of the exotic shops, tandoori restaurants and the diversity of the languages spoken around me. And where else but in Grønland can you buy fresh basil, all different types of fruits and expensive olive oils on any day, also on a Sunday!
Recently, several galleries have opened. Artists have loved for many years the inspiring atmosphere in Grønland, for a good reason.
At night the district transforms as all the hip and trendy people go out to have a drink at Pigalle, Dattera til Hagen or Gloria Flames. Stargate is the place for the cheapest beer in the city. The atmosphere is much more relaxed in this district than in other parts of the city, and it’s easy to make new friends.
Grønland is definitely one of my favourite places in Oslo!
