Sunbathing, swimming, BBQ, Café, history, geology, flowers and sheep – thats what you can do and experience on a summerday at Hovedøya
Take bus Nr. 60 towards Vippetangen, leaving from the Shopping Mall Oslo City, right beside the Central Station. Get off at Vippetangen and walk over to the pear, where the ferry boats to the Oslo-island are leaving from. Take the ferry to Hovedøya. (Tickets can be bought cash from the machine next to the pear or on board the boat. The tickets are just the same as for all public transport, very easy!)
At Hovedøya you can see the ruins of an old monastery and you can get something to eat and drink at the Kafé Klosterkroa (only open during the summer). Do as many locals do, take one of the famous disposable BBQ’s and some food on the island!
