We eat a lot of fish in Norway, I especially love the mackerel, and I like catching it myself! It is possible to fish mackerel without a boat, for example from Vippetangen, between the opera house and the city hall, right where the boats to the islands leave from (92, 93 and 94). You can also take bus 85 Ulvøya from the central station out to Ulvøya, which is an island, and fish from the bridge there, this is actually one of the most popular fishing sites in Oslo. You can also catch cod, seabass and sea trout in this area. The mackerel taste delicious almost any way you cook it (barbecue is very easy, put it in a tin foil first with some spices like salt and pepper and a slice of lemon), but it is really good with Norwegian rømme and hot butter. Enjoy!
