One thing that has to be visited in december in Oslo is the christmas market in front of the City Hall. It's best to go there in the late afetrnoon when it starts to get dark. Then you get a wonderful impression about the christmas lights in the trees. That brings out the christmas mood. This is a good place to try the typical norwegian "gløgg" or even some german "Glühwein". They both help a lot to protect you from the norwegian cold and taste delicious. The hungry ones can treat tehmselves with an elgburger, elgsausages or my favorite elgstew. Once you're full it's time to stroll over the marked and have a look at norwegian handicraft or maybe buy some handknittes woolen socks or mittens with the typical norwegian pattern. It is defintely a wonderful pre christmas experience.
