Right next to the Vigeland park is Frognerbadet, Oslo's number one outdoor pool area. It is very popular amongst locals, but it is rather cheap and very refreshing during hot summer days (the water is naturally warmed by the sun, so it is always refreshing). A tip can be to settle down OUTSIDE the actual area, within Vigelandsparken for instance, and just go bathing inside the pool area, which can be really crowded, sometimes even with long queues to get in.
To lot of Oslo dwellers, Frognerbadet is mostly about the nostalgia of their youth and the atmosphere. It holds a big place in the collective heart, soul and memory as the city, and famous artists have even made songs about Frognerbadet. Its importance is hard to understand for foreigners, but it must have something to do with Frognerbadet, as a solely outside area, being the ultimate summer symbol.
