If you read a guidebook about Oslo, Holmenkollen will be listed as one of the main attractions in the city. Usually people want to see the ski jump, but the area itself is also worth visiting. This area is on the top of a hill so obviusly the view is great from here. To get to Holmenkollen you can take subway line 1 Frognerseteren, and instead of getting off at the Holmenkollen station (ski jump) get off at the last stop, Frognerseteren and visit the restaurant there. You can actually eat Norwegian rømmegrøt (porridge and other things of course) while you enjoy the view of the city and the fjord from this hilltop. The restaurant itself is also worth seeing if you are not hungry because the building itself is an attraction. In the summer you can also sit outside.
