No, this isn'a a post about one of Oslo's nicest open air music festivals, Norwegian Wood. I want to talk about one of the things that called my attention the most when I moved from sunny Brazil to cold Norway: the coloured wooden houses that are so typical from this country and that makes a huge contrast with the white snow during the winter. They are very common in the countryside, but you can also find some examples of those constructions here in the middle of the city. Taking a walk around Rodeløkka, for instance, gives you this feeling of little town when in reality you're right in the city center.
The area has other good things to offer as well: right by you have lots of green areas, like Sofienbergsparken, the Botanical Garden and Tøyenparken, not to mention the nice cafés all around Grünnerløkka really near by too. A nice way to experience Oslo like locals.
