When visiting a new city or the first time, one of the first things I do is to find the local vintage shops. Here, you can all but see and touch the atmosphere surrounding a ball gown, a smart tweed suit or an elegant hat. If you have a bit of luck, you may come across a piece of local fashion history.
What to look out for in Oslo:
Skiing clothes, red anoraks and Helly Hansen clothes (a traditional Norwegian brand). Knitted “Norwegian sweaters”. If you are lucky you may find hand-knitted high quality ones with silver buttons. In fact, all winter clothes are usually of very good quality.
