Favourite place in Oslo:
Grünerløkka got my heart! It's the hipster place in Oslo. What an interesting place to be. Specially if you like street art and underground scene as myself. Also great vintage shops and cool coffee places around. As a professional photographer I went crazy over there. Full of colours, architecture and art.

Biggest surpise in Oslo:
I had the pleasure to meet my Oslo guide – she is an art lover and middle-class art collector and she showed me the street-art scene from Oslo. Also cool fashion shops and coffees. And she invited a street artist – a friend of her, from Poland but based in Oslo) Adrian Platkovsky, his work is amazing, and we had the best time ever!

Tor Johansen (44) – Los Angeles, USA (with Norwegian roots)

Interests: video and photography, everything Norwegian

Favourite place in Oslo:
Korketrekkeren was definitely a highlight for me. Just the process of getting there was a gorgeous train ride through the mountains in the snow. Beautiful scenery on the way up for sure. But for me, the very instant I got my sled, I instantly regressed back to my childhood growing up in Vermont. Sledding in the winter was a daily activity of my childhood, and I literally went from a 44 year old man to a 7 year old boy, screaming down the mountain with pure, authentic joy. What a great way to start our Oslo excursion together! So. Much. Fun.

Biggest surpise in Oslo:
The biggest discovery for me in Oslo was how kind and accepting the local people were. Though it may have been freezing cold, the warmth of the people will always stay with me. I was invited into a private residence to have coffee and cake, the Tesla-driving Uber guy and I joked all the way to Vigeland Park, the kind woman at Dale of Norway literally found a sweater for me with my NAME on it, my dear "Oslo buddy" devoted her entire weekend to me … I got these kinds of experiences and connected to people like this over and over again during my visit. Which left me wanting to cancel my flight back to the states.

Lois Eva Adongo (38) – Nairobi, Kenya

'Ice bathing at the Kok Floating Sauna and skiing/sledding at the Oslo Winter Park.'

Biggest surpise in Oslo:
'That one could actually have a fun time in the winter and in snow was quite a big surprise for me!'

Matt Eagles (35) – Birmingham, UK

Interests: coffee, art, crossfit

Favourite place in Oslo:
'The place that stands out is the mountain … and the proximity to the city. For Brits, we go to France and it's very remote from anything metropolitan. Oslo is incredible as you can be in a nice coffee shop in the morning then snowboarding in the afternoon. That was pretty special ... felt like you could combine the best of both things – city living and rural sports.'

Biggest surprise:
'The biggest surprise for me was how this was a global city but felt like it had unique character to it. I've lived in London where it feels so busy and overwhelming; Oslo has character, beautiful places, parks, roads, structures, but then has water too, the mountain … felt like a mini world rolled into one.'

'I thought the people would be friendly, but they were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about their city. I don't think most British people know as much as Osloites do about their city!'

Julian Nolte (30) – Düsseldorf, Germany

Interests: antiques markets, the royal family

Favourite place in Oslo:
'The swimming sauna - that's for sure. That was an unique moment which felt like a once-in-a-lifetime-chance. And I really love going to sauna and I saw a lot but never a swimming sauna and springing into natural ice water with such a nice view on the opera was amazing.'

Biggest surpise in Oslo:
'I guess the biggest surprise was that I met nine other persons with different cultural backgrounds, different experience and different ages, but we were all connected by loving this city/country. Not matter if they were born in Africa, USA or Europe - this small country called Norway has obviously such an amazing "charisma" or image that people around the world feel curious to connect themselves to this country/city.'

Isabella Allievi (27) – Italian living in Tokyo, Japan

Interests:  interior design, furniture design

Favourite place in Oslo:
'I decided to go one extra day and before meeting the other guests I took the train from the central station and I decided to go to the lake Sognsvann. It was really beautiful –  even more than the pictures I saw before.'

Biggest surpise in Oslo:
'When all the guests were supposed to spend the day with a local buddy, I was surprised by my friends Einar and Arvild who I met in Tokyo before. And they showed me around the city. I really enjoyed that day because they took me in some places I’ve never seen even on guidebooks.'
