The municipality of Oslo no longer organises fireworks displays on New Year's Eve, and private use of fireworks are prohibited in the central parts of the city.
NB! Beware of the icy ground while you search for the perfect spot to watch the show. Stay on your feet and out of the emergency room on New Year's Eve, and wear crampons. You can purchase these in pharmacies.
Out for a meal, a drink or a dance
Some restaurants and clubs have special menus or events on New Year's Eve. As very few places are open on that evening, we recommend making a reservation or getting tickets ahead if you plan to go out in Oslo that night.
