Ingrid

Ingrid grew up right outside of Oslo, and spends her summers working at the Kistefos Museum, and her winters in Thailand. She is a big believer in energies and positive vibes, and tries to spread it around her wherever she goes.

Ingrid works at the Kistefos Museum and Sculpture park. It is a wonderful destination in Jevnaker, right outside Oslo, where art and nature merge seamlessly. You might have seen photos of the famous Twist, a striking gallery building stretching across the Randselva river.

What makes Oslo special to you?

I grew up in Tårnåsen, right outside of Oslo. I have such fond memories of taking the bus into the city after school to visit my mum at the restaurant she worked at.

I remember going to the cinema, playing in the big playground in Frognerparken (The Vigeland Sculpture Park) and ice skating at Spikersuppa, by the Christmas market. Such a beautiful atmosphere.

I think the best thing about Oslo is that even though it has changed a lot over the years, it always gives me the same feeling. The same excitement of “what will happen today?” “What new things will I see?” “Such a good day to explore the old and the new”.

There is always life in Oslo and so much beauty all around.

What is your favourite activity in Oslo?

Going to any kind of park or down to Aker brygge to dance with my fans.

What is your favourite museum?

My favourite museum is, surprise surprise, the Kistefos museum! It's such a beautiful place to spend your day. You get to experience nature, art and history all in one.

The way it is placed in the middle of the forest makes it feel like it's a hidden gem in the wild. So many beautiful sculptures, yearly art exhibitions, the industrial museum which is just so fun to walk through and think about how people used to work there in the old days.

Where do you get the best view?

Voksenåsen Hotel at the top of Holmenkollen. I must admit I might be a little biased, as I occasionally work there too, but they definitely have the best view I can think of in Oslo. From the veranda you can see the whole city below, and so much of the Oslo Fjord, with the most beautiful sunsets!

Want to stay close to nature in Oslo?

Check out Voksenåsen and the other great hotels that let you commune with the forest or the fjord while staying in Oslo.

How do you prefer to get around in Oslo?

The best way to experience Oslo is definitely by walking. You spot so many cute places and details you would have missed otherwise.

Take your time and explore. Walk the streets and look around at all the amazingly beautiful buildings, some with so much history to them. I especially love walking through parks to get to where I need to go. Multiple little oases all over.
