What is the best thing about Oslo?

The best thing about Oslo is that it's close to the sea and that it's possible to walk almost anywhere. I usually go for walks along Karl Johan, at Aker Brygge, or in the Palace Park. The transportation is also great here. I often use the tram, it comes every 5 minutes and goes all across the city. You don’t need to plan, just hop on and go. Oslo is just the right size for a capital city.

What is your favourite neighbourhood?

From the Palace Park, you can walk to Majorstua. It's my favourite neighbourhood. I lived there when I was a child and I still love the area with all its small and big shops, restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops. This neighbourhood is like a small city within the city.
I also like the Barcode area in Bjørvika. I think the buildings are cool. You should take the elevator up to the sky restaurant at Dinner Barcode. The view is great, and it's a nice place to sit down for a drink or a meal.

Where do you get the best views?

If you want the best view of the city, I recommend Holmenkollen, I used to work in the area, and the view in the mornings over Oslo is magical. From Holmenkollen you can take a short metro trip, and you are back in the city centre again. Another great view of the city centre is from Clarion Hotel The Hub or the rooftop at Grand Hotel.

What time of year is the best in Oslo?

I’m more of a picnic-in-the-park or on-the-beach kind of person, so my favourite seasons are spring and summer. In spring, the cherry trees in the city centre are in full bloom. You’ll find over 300 of them, and some of the finest ones can be seen at St. Olavs plass or by City Hall.

Where do you go for an excellent concert?

You should try a night at Wallmans Oslo, either a dinner show or stand-up at Latter, go see an opera or a ballet performance, or a musical. And of course visit Unity Arena for concerts featuring some of the world’s biggest artists. I think it’s so exciting that we have such a diverse range of shows and performances in Oslo.
