Situated by the harbour, the building is distinguished by its striking geometric white exterior and its iconic, walkable roof, which invites visitors to experience it from every angle. What’s the best thing about Oslo?

Oslo is a very well-balanced, compact capital city. The city centre has a lively atmosphere with lots of activities. If we want to take a break from city life, there are many beautiful islands, fjords, beaches, and forests that can be easily accessed by public transport. Oslo is not a big city like New York or Tokyo, but we can get everything we need, and because it's very compact. I find it so charming and it makes it easier to get to know people and the culture of Norway.

What are your favourite cafés and restaurants in Oslo?

I have so many favourite places in Oslo! But for cafés, I would say The Little Pickle in Trondheimsveien. Their coffee and baked goods are exceptional! The atmosphere is also very welcoming and warm. Their sourdough and choux cream are a “must-try”!

For a restaurant, I have to say Panu at St. Olavs plass. There is always a nice vibe there! The food and wine are beautifully paired, and the atmosphere is welcoming and lively. There are also wonderful DJs playing great music every night, which makes the evening even more special and memorable.

What is your favourite neighbourhood in Oslo and why?

I love Grünerløkka and the Kampen area. I love window shopping around these areas. There are so many cute little local shops and cafés with their own unique character.

Where do you go for an excellent concert in Oslo?

The Oslo Opera House or the Oslo Concert Hall! We have such a wide repertoire, from classics to modern works, and I believe anyone can enjoy the performances, even if it’s their first time visiting. The Oslo Opera House is open to everyone.

Where is the best place for a walk in Oslo?

I usually go for a walk around my neighbourhood, especially along the Alnaelva river. It’s in a residential area, but on this walkway you can feel more like you are in the forest. During the walk, I like to take a little break at Kruttverket. There is nice coffee and pastries, which gives me a good reason to go for a walk.

What time of year is the best in Oslo and why?

I love spring and summer in Oslo. People are out in town more often, and the city starts to feel more energetic. I love finding a good spot to sit outside and enjoy drinks. So far, my favourite is Panu, where you can sit outside in the sun until it goes down, and in the spring you can see beautiful cherry blossoms at St. Olavs plass.
