Oslo’s many parks and outdoor attractions bring you closer to nature, even when you’re in the middle of the city centre. You also get to enjoy art, architecture, and a cup of coffee while you’re at it.
The sculptures in Ekebergparken and Vigeland Sculpture Park really shine among the golden autumn leaves. The Botanical Garden, with its 1200 carefully planted trees and other plants, is at its most beautiful this time of year.
To really see the autumn colours up close, you should visit The Stovner Tower. The popular walkway winds its way up between the treetops and offers a great view of the area.
When walking along Oslo’s harbour promenade you will see several of the city’s newer neighbourhoods and landmarks on one side, and the Oslofjord on the other – illuminated by beautiful autumn light.
A walk along the Akerselva river is also a nice way to enjoy a crisp autumn day

Oslo’s cafés invite you in for a warm atmosphere, soft pillows, and world-class coffee. Add some good company (or a good book) and the wonderful aroma of cinnamon, and you have a perfect little autumn break.

Cocoa is located at Grünerløkka and offers, as its name implies, both hot and cold cocoa of various flavours. At Bollebar Café, next to the National Museum, you will be spoilt for choice offers the Norwegian specialty pastry fluffy wheat buns.
Kolonihagen Frogner is a popular outdoor eatery in Oslo that is open all year long. An excellent place to stop by after a walk in the Vigeland Sculpture Park. If you’re in the Botanical Garden, then Handwerk Botaniske is an essential spot to stop by and enjoy a nice meal.

For a real hidden gem, go to Gartneriet at Bygdøy. This cafe is a great place for a weekend lunch, and you even get to sit and enjoy your meal in the greenhouse, right where the produce is grown. Open on Saturdays and Sundays, they offer creative menus based on the produce in their own garden or at the Royal Farm nearby.
Bønder i Byen at Grünerløkka is another great place to go for produce that is in season. Taste delicious Norwegian dishes prepared using traditional techniques and conservation methods.
You should also visit the famous and traditional restaurant Frognerseteren - Restaurant Finstua for an unforgettable and truly Norwegian dinner experience. It shares its magnificent wooden building with the more casual Kafé Seterstua, that serves hot chocolate and apple cake by the warm fire.
