Eco-Lighthouse
Norway's most prevalent environmental certification. Eco-Lighthouse has more than 6,600 certified businesses in the country, with tailored criteria for over 80 different industries. Both large and small businesses, as well as governmental institutions, can apply for certification. Certification necessitates an environmental mapping of the business, which must be maintained. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel
Managed by the foundation Miljømerking Norge, Nordic Swan is both non-commercial and the official environmental management certification in Norway. Nordic Swan sets strict requirements for water and energy use, use of disposables in food service, use of for cleaning and maintenance, as well as encouraging use of ecological food articles. Green Key
One of the largest environmental management certifications within the travel industry, with a special focus on hotels and other accommodations. Green Key is internationally known and encourages sustainable tourism, while promoting businesses that take steps to become more climate friendly. Read more at greenkey.global
ISO 14001
International environmental management standard suitable for all industries. The certification requires each business to adapt to its routines, as well as establishing goals developed by ISO 14001. Several controlling authorities in Norway checks ISO 14001 certifications.
Ecotourism Norway
Certification for businesses that offer locally based nature and cultural experiences. Ecotourism Norway is run by Hanen and is based on international principles adjusted to Norwegian conditions and problem areas.
Blue Flag
The Norwegian Blue Flag programme is run by FEE Norway. Blue Flag predominantly certify beaches, marinas and boats based on strict criteria including security, service, environmental routines, water quality and environmental information. Read more at blueflag.global
